WarCraft
III: Reign of Chaos is the third installment of the WarCraft series and
takes place in the imaginary lands of Kalimdor, Northrend, Azeroth and Lordaeron.
Players are able to choose from one of 4 unique races - the powerful Human
Alliance, the evil Undead Scourge, the tricky
Sentinel of the Night elves, or the mighty and strong Orc Horde.
The game was released in 2002 and has a very active community with excellent
online support including automatic balance changes and an automated opponent
finder. Players can chose out of 3 heroes per race and recruit a dozen different
units and even hire merchants. Battle.net, the online platform, supports solo, free
for all, random team games and arranged team games; 2v2, 3v3 and 4v4.
The Freedom Fighters division of WarCraft III was formed in
2002 by long-time FF members FF-Master and FF-TNT.
The division truly became active online when the new clan features were introduced
in version
1.12. The division is currently run by FF-Nopileos who has previous command
experience within Freespace 2. Currently playing within the Warcraft III Northrend Ladder the division has around 16
members who enjoy arranged team games and internal clan war games with each
other.
In
2004 we are going to expand to the add-on “The Frozen Throne”.
It is even more active than the Reign of Chaos online community and
offers the players to play tournaments to win special icons as well as it
supports 4v4 random team games. It includes 1 new Hero for each race and
a
few units. New neutral Heroes available for all races as well as new maps
and a campaign that even lasts longer than the RoC campaign.

Battlenet Northrend Ladder
Battle.net offers 7 different ladders and tournaments (tournaments only for The
Frozen Throne) for all players. There are ladders for Solo, Random Team, Arranged
Team 2v2, 3v3, 4v4 and Free For All games. Players start at level 1 in each
ladder and for each win they gain experience; the more experience players have
the better is their level. If the enemy is of a higher level wins count for
more points while beating lower level enemies gives less. In the same way losing
to higher level player doesn’t cost as much experience as losing to same
level and losing to a weaker players costs more points. The maximum difference
allowed between 2 players is 6 levels. The best 1000 players enter a ladder
with rankings in each game type.
